SCANLATION
In 2020 I joined some scanlation teams as an editor and redrawer in order to help them translate manga, manwha and manhua.
Due to the large number of applications, scanlation teams always require new members to take a test before being accepted into the team.
Every team has its own set of rules to follow regarding the cleaning process, the fonts to use during typesetting, etc.
MY SCANLATION TEAMS
FORGOTTEN-SCANS
I joined the team Forgotten-Scans as an editor and redrawer in Spring 2020.
HYAKURO TRANSLATION
I joined the team Hyakuro Translation as an editor and redrawer in Autumn 2020.
I joined the team Red Lantern Translation as a cleaner and redrawer in Summer 2020.
RED LANTERN
Cleaners edit the scanned pages in order to improve their quality, clarity and readability. This involves straightening, cropping, leveling, text removal, basic redrawing, and dust removal.
Typesetters then transfers the translated script onto the cleaned pages, while reflecting the format and style of the original page.
In scanlation typesetting and cleaning can be grouped together as editing, done by an editor.
Redrawer remove any sfx or text that is overlaid on images. They also redraw any double pages into a single one. Anything that is too difficult for cleaners may sometimes be dealt with by Redrawers.
